EL CALAFATE
Introduction: is a little village in Patagonia, Argentina. It is situated in the southern border of Lake Argentino, in the southwest part of the Santa Cruz Province, about 320 km Northwest from Río Gallegos. Its name comes from a little bush with yellow flowers very common in Patagonia, with dark blue berries: the calafate (Berberis buxifolia); the word comes from the word "calafate", which is Spanish for "caulk".
El Calafate is an important tourist destination as the hub to visit different parts of the Los Glaciares National Park, including the Perito Moreno Glacier (one of the most visited in the world) and the Cerro Chaltén and Cerro Torre.
 
THE GLACIERS NATIONAL PARK
The Glaciers National Park was founded in 1937, to preserve the natural wonders of Santa Cruz Province and Andes patagonicos of Argentina, it is about 6000km2, the third part of this part belongs to the National reserve and the others 3 parts to the park, along this National Park we can find different climate changes and diversity of landscapes the only one in the world.
Due to its landscapes with diversity of flora and fauna the UNESCO declared as world’s heritage in 1981 the National Park of Glaciers
 
TOURS IN CALAFATE
SHORT HIKING TO THE GLACIERS
Breakfast in the Hotel in Calafate, and aboard the private bus and transfer to Puerto “Bajo de las Sombras” about 73km, then passengers have to cross the lake with a boat and sail for about 20 minutes, to cross the lake is about 7 km, then arrive to the Costa Sudoeste wonderful views of the south wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier, arriving to the other side of the lake leave the boat and visit the Refugio here is where guides collect passengers to make a group of 20 passengers and starts the hiking in the shore of the lake for approximately 20 minutes to arrive to the glacier, arriving to the border of the glacier the guides prepare the crampons to put on the passengers receiving Instructions how to walk during the visit of the glacier, during the walking in the glacier you can observe diversity of the Glacier formations such as; seracs, crevasses, small lakes, etc, the hiking is moderated, the ice ground is irregular for walking but safe, the professional guides will explain the passengers about the flora, fauna and glaciology in general with the particular phenomenal of the glacier; after enjoy this walking in the glacier, passengers will return to the Refugio walking under the magallanes forest, and passengers will have lunch in the Refugio, with nice overlooking; after lunch passengers will be transferred to the port of “Bajo las Sombras” then the bus drives to “Mirador del Glaciar” where passengers can stay and enjoy for about one hour, then return by the same way to Calafate direct transfer to their Hotels.

PERITO MORENO GLACIER
In the morning the bus puck up the passengers and and drive about 80km until the base of the glaciers, leaving from el Calafate, will round the southern of the Lago Argentino and during the first paved 40km driving passengers will enjoy the wonderful landscape until to arrive to he Parque Nacional Los Glaciares entrance, where passengers can see the Patagonic Andeasn forest belonging to the “notofagus” family, once arriving to the glacier passengers can walk in directo to pasarelas of the glaciers  to observe different views staying in the front of it, during the staying passengers can have lunch in a adequate restaurant with the purpose to the visitors, after that passengers can sail to front of the glaciers to observe the ice walls falling down the lake; after return to Calafate transfer to the Hotel

CRUICE TOURS ALL GLACIERS
Breakfast at the Hotel in Calafate, aboard the bus and drive for about 50km paved way and arrive to Puerto de la Cruz, here we leave the bus and take the boat and depart sailing in the North Arm of the Lago Argentino, the sail will lead us to Upsala Glacier, Onelli Glacier and Spegazzini Glacier, after to cress the evils throat (La Garganta del Diablo) we will find the first floes, these we will see along the journey with its different shapes and high, when we arrive to the Upsala channel we will have impressionist panoramic view of the biggest glacier in the National Park the Upsala glacier; after that we will sail to the Onelli bay where we will walk off the boat and hike about 800meters through the typical forest until to arrive to Onelli lake form here we will observe the glaciers Onelli, Bolado and Agassiz; then after lunch we will start to sail to the Spegazzini glacier wich is characterized by being the tallest in the National Park, visit to the dry glacier and return to the port, and return to Calafate transfer to the Hotel

EL CHALTEN & FITZ ROY 4 days/3 Nights

1 Day: Calafate – El Chalten
after the breakfast around 9am in the Hotel in Calafate, passengers aboard the private bus and dive north side about 213 km, during the journey we will pass several nice spots for taking pictures, we will make a little stop in the small village of la Leonesa, here we will start to round the Viedma Lagon, with a wonderful views, in the background the mountains of the National Park of Glaciers, then after to drive for about 3 hours (including photo stops), we will arrive to Small village of El Chalten, transfer immediately to the selected Hotel, accommodation in the Hotel and go for Lunch, after lunch we will have free afternoon to around the small village, dinner at selected restaurant and overnight Hostel in El Chalten.

2 Day: El Chalten - FITZ ROY TREKKING – El Chalten
Morning breakfast in the Hotel in El Chalten, then we will hike north side of El Chalten in the trail we will enjoy wonderful landscapes and in our left side will be the enormous Fitz Roy, arrive to the Laguna Capri in the Base Camp of Fitz Roy, The peak was sacred and venerated by local Tehuelche groups who believed the mists enshrouding it were volcanic ash and called it "Chalten" (God of Smoke). We reach Laguna Capri, where Mt Fitz Roy reflects its image in its crystal clear waters, stop en route for lunch and then resume the hike to Laguna de los Tres, at the base of Mt. Fitz Roy. Three glaciers drain into this emerald lagoon with majestic Mt. Fitz Roy towering above. Enjoy spectacular views of Lake Viedma, the sweeping Patagonia steppe and unrivaled Fitz Roy. If you choose to continue down the steep trail to the natural balcony onto LagunaSucia, you'll also gaze on the Saint Exupiry and Poincenot spires. Return to the El Chalten Hotel dinner and overnight

Day 3: El Chalten - Trek to Cerro Torre – El Chalten
After the breakfast in the hotel in El Chalten we will start hiking to Cerro Torre, this Mountain is famous for its beauty but also for its difficulty to climb. Many expeditions attempt every year to reach the summit, but only a few climbers’ success. After a 45 minutes’ hike you will find an even area surrounding an old lagoon, where vegetation is starting to grow again. The trail enters a forest with a slight descent leading to a lookout facing the Cerro Torre range and the Adelas Mountain, the trail finishes in by the Laguna Torre, with beautiful views of Cerro Torre, surrounded by Egger, Stand hard, Spires and the Adelas range as a backdrop together with the Torre Glacier. Return to El Chalten Hotel dinner and overnight.

Day 4: El Chalten - El Calafate.
After breakfast, free time for a further hike in the area. Alternatively, drive to town and enjoy a short hike to a scenic point overlooking the famous cerro Torre. Afternoon private transfer to El Calafate and transfer to the selected Hotel or airport to take your flight back to Buenos Aires.
